REGISTRATION AND ADMISSIONS

  1. The first step in choosing our preschool for your child’s early education is to visit us and take a guided tour with owners, Huia or Greg Pope or Center Director, Michele MacKinnon.
  2. As the child(ren)’s guardian you will then have a personal interview with one of our administrators. This interview will provide information about the program and a plan for a continuing relationship between the child and the Center.
  3. Changes in admissions policies are made from time to time, in accordance with any change in State Regulation and or changes in admissions policies felt necessary by the Kiwi Preschool Administration for the betterment of the program.

Your Childs Health

As a licensed Preschool, we must ask that a Medical Pre-admission Health Evaluation be conducted in accordance with State Lic 701 before entering the Center’s program. This is for the health and safety of all the children.

A Physicians Statement is required certifying that the child is physically and emotionally ready for the program and is risk factor free of Tuberculosis. This statement shall not be more than one year old when obtained. The medical assessment shall contain a record of any infectious or contagious disease that would preclude care by the Center. There should also be identification of any special problem or need a child may have or any medication being taken by that child. This assessment should also contain the ambulatory status of the child.

Prior to admission to the Center, the child shall be immunized against diseases as required by the California Code of Regulations, Title 17, commencing with section 6000.

Children already in school who have become ill will be comfortably isolated and parents will be contacted to pick the child up immediately. Please ensure that an adult on the child’s emergency card is able to be contacted at any time the child is at the Center. If there is a change of phone number for any given day, please ensure it is attached to your child’s emergency card on the day it is to be effective. We ask that children who have been ill, not return to the Center until all symptoms of illness have been clear for at least 24 hours. This will help in keeping the other children from contacting the illness.

As we strive to keep a “healthy” center, we ask that you do not bring your child with:

“serious” cold symptoms
temperature above the norm of 98.6
vomiting
diarrhea
pinkeye
contagious illnesses such as chickenpox, measles etc.

If a child is not well enough to participate in all activities, they should not be at the Center.

Any rashes appearing on a child should be seen by a physician and verified in writing as a non-contagious rash before the child returns to the Center.

Medication of any kind will not be administered or dispersed by Kiwi Preschool Staff. A parent or adult designated by a parent may come to the Center to administer medication to a child.
